What
a Week!
23
April 2008
The
Ash Lawn Opera Festival is celebrating a successful Artists-in-Residence
program. Jason Kaminski, who will be singing El Dancairo in
Carmen this summer, finished the week with bravos
from all. Barbara Moore and Pat Davis's accompaniment was
superb. The group visited 11 local schools, delighting children
and teachers alike with their unique introduction to the world
of opera.
The
Festival is currently holding auditions for community singers
on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4-5 p.m. at First
Presbyterian Church in downtown Charlottesville. Call the
office today at 434.293.4500 to schedule an audition.
Ash
Lawn Opera congratulates the UVa University Singers as they
celebrate 50 years of music performance. The Singers' concert
on April 5 was a fine example of their excellence. The Festival
was proud to have two of our own alums, mezzo Cherry Duke
and tenor William Bennett, as soloists. William Bennett will
return to the Festival this summer to sing Freddy in My
Fair Lady.
