Young Artists and Apprentice Singers - Applications now closed
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Young Artist/Apprentice Singer. Applications for the 2017 Summer Season are now closed. Please check back in the fall for information about our 2018 season.
Ash Lawn Opera provides Young Artists with an enriching way to enhance their professional careers. 2017 Young Artists have the opportunity to perform supporting roles in the main stage production of Rigoletto and Oklahoma!, and will cover the principal roles and perform in the ensembles of both productions. Additionally, Young Artists will have the opportunity to perform excerpts of Rigoletto with piano, and will perform in outreach, donor, and marketing events. Young Artists receive private coaching sessions, sing in master classes, and have the opportunity to audition for agents, conductors, and artistic administrators. Young Artists have the opportunity to build mentoring relationships with the artistic staff and principal artists. See the Young Artist Audition Info for a list of recent master classes and auditions. Young Artists are resident in Charlottesville for both productions over approximately 6.5 weeks.
Ash Lawn Opera provides Apprentice Singers with a rewarding way to begin their professional careers while still pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees. Apprentice Singers have the opportunity to perform bit parts and in the ensemble of Oklahoma! and, depending on availability, cover roles and take part in outreach performances. Male Apprentice Singers will also perform in the ensemble of Rigoletto. Apprentice Singers also receive private coaching sessions and perform in donor and marketing events, in addition to auditing and, if selected, performing in master classes and auditions with visiting artists and administrators. Apprentice Singers have the opportunity to build mentoring relationships with the artistic staff and principal artists. Female Apprentice Singers are resident in Charlottesville primarily for the musical over approximately one month; male Apprentice Singers are resident in Charlottesville for both productions over approximately 6.5 weeks.
No live auditions will be held; all decisions are based on the submitted materials.
